What happens during a Volkswagen Oil Service?
During the Oil Service, Autohaus Namibia replaces used oil with fresh oil. The oil filter and seals are also replaced — with Volkswagen Genuine Parts and Volkswagen Genuine Oil, of course.
When does the oil need to be changed?
Find out when it's time for an oil change in your printed owner's manual, or on the Service Interval Display. Volkswagen otherwise distinguishes between a flexible service (according to the Service Interval Display, but at the latest after two years or 30,000 km) and a fixed service (every 15,000 km, but at least once a year) — whichever occurs first.
Why is an oil change important?
Oil residues can build up over time, which can decrease lubrication capacity and cause engine parts to be subjected to high levels of friction. That's why it's important to change the engine oil on a regular basis — the service team at Autohaus Namibia will happily take care of this for you.
Which engine oil does my Volkswagen need?
Whether petrol or diesel, with or without a particulate filter: for the new generation of engines with a diesel particulate filter there is LongLife IV FE, and for older engine generations LongLife III FE. For older Volkswagen models without a particulate filter, we recommend the smooth-running "Special D" (diesel) or "Special G" (petrol) engine oils. Ask your Autohaus Namibia dealer for help selecting the right one.
What is the oil filter for and why does it have to be changed?
The oil filter cleans circulating engine oil as far as possible of dust, metal abrasion, oil carbon and soot particles. If it becomes blocked, it may cause reduced engine performance and possibly lead to engine damage — that's why it's important to change it regularly.
Why does coolant have to be refilled?
Volkswagen Genuine Coolant Additive G12evo protects your engine against extreme temperatures, corrosion, acidification and limescale. If there is not enough available, the engine may overheat and suffer serious damage.
How often does the coolant have to be changed?
Normally the coolant does not need to be replaced, but we recommend checking the level regularly between maintenance intervals. If it's too low due to an accident or a leak, or your system is otherwise faulty, a warning lamp will notify you. When refilling, we recommend Volkswagen Genuine Coolant Additive G12evo.
What is the purpose of brake fluid?
It's the brake fluid's job to transmit the pressure exerted on the brake pedal to the brakes — it's the only way the car will come to a halt.
